One of the largest gambling parlors in the north of England is beefing up its poker offerings.
Leeds’ Victoria Gate Casino said in a press release that it now has “one of the biggest poker rooms outside of London.” The casino told Card Player that nine additional tables were added to the room earlier this month, nearly doubling the total.
The Poker Room is owned and operated by The Gaming Group Limited (a company incorporated in England and Wales under company number 04522448), whose registered office address is at TOR, Saint-Cloud Way, Maidenhead, Berkshire, SL6 8BN. Welcome to Victoria Gate Casino. The super casino of the north has everything to keep you entertained any time of day. Discover live betting and the most extensive selection of slots and electronic gaming in the north of England.
Patrick Noakes, Managing Director at Victoria Gate Casino, said that the property is “delighted to be enhancing” its poker offerings “in response to demand.”
“Poker is massively popular in Leeds, so we’re very excited to be launching the largest poker room in Yorkshire—and one of the biggest outside of London—right here in the city,' he added.
The Victoria Gate Casino is one of about 150 casinos in England, according to a May 2017 report from the country’s Gambling Commission. Gamblers in the U.K. now spend £13.8 billion a year, which is at record levels. The Commission didn’t release data on poker revenue specifically.

England has about 600 poker tables spread between about 70 brick-and-mortar rooms. The number of tables is about the same as the U.S. state of Nevada.
Poker in the U.K. could experience growth from a partnership with the state of New Jersey. The two jurisdictions are presumably still in talks about sharing their online poker player pools, after it was made public in mid-2016 that discussions had started.
Victoria Gate Casino will be one of the biggest entertainment venues in Leeds when it opens later today and the third-biggest casino in the UK.
The huge entertainment and gaming destination, which is the first and only ‘super casino’ in the north, sits alongside John Lewis at the top of the city’s new Victoria Gate development.
As well as gaming, there's something for everyone, the company expects that 50% of the venue's customers will never game. The casino has wall-to-wall screens for watching sport, private function spaces, as well as two bars and a restaurant:

Live Bar has a partnership with Coors Light and acts as the hub of the casino, with wall-to-wall, state-of-the-art screens displaying the latest sports and live action.
Curve is the venue’s champagne, cocktail and craft beer bar, which is partnered with Moët & Chandon. It has a lounge-style feel and offers table service. It also offers rotating cask ales and will feature beers from local breweries.
V Restaurant has an informal brasserie-style setting, using locally-sourced ingredients to create top quality dishes from traditional home favourites to Pan-Asian cuisine.
